Caring Teachers: Leaders to our Goals and Dreams

In China, teachers have been portrayed as a person who taught their pupils with great wisdom, and therefore were respected by many people. They didn’t just teach their pupils, but also they spent their lives with their pupils, giving advices for living. Nowadays, teachers still play an important role in leading the students in appropriate ways. There is even this song in Korea: “Teacher’s kindness is like the sky high above; the more you look with respect the higher it gets.” What exactly is the kindness of the teacher in the song? From when did this job begin? Let’s find out about a teacher’s leadership first.
First, teachers are harsh like a whip. They know what’s wrong and lead the students to the right way by pointing it out. Think about getting a whip on the back when you’re working on something. Although it hurts, it gives you more concentration towards your work and you naturally work harder on it. By working harder, your result becomes much more beautiful. This is like a teacher pointing out the wrong things the students might be doing or telling the student to work harder. This could be harsh for the students, but as they work harder, their goals and dreams become each step closer. Like a whip, their advices help us to achieve a beautiful result. For example, a student might copy the essay on the internet and claim that he or she has done it. Teacher who notices this will tell the student that it is a wrong thing to do so that the student will not carry on cheating. However, if the teacher doesn’t say anything to the student, he or she may carry on copying and cheating. Later on, the student will realize that they don’t have any ability to apply for college or job because they didn’t improve at all. As you can see, by the teacher pointing out the student’s mistakes, it helps the student to achieve his or her dreams and goals. They know in the future that all advices they got from the teacher helped them earn what they wanted to achieve. There’s a meaningful advices are like the whip on the back.
Teachers have existed from very long ago. Actually, they were always on earth since human being existed on earth. The first teachers weren’t exactly appointed as a teacher. Their job was to show the young how to do things. Their teaching areas were highly limited, only things such as hunting, fishing, or making tools for living. They didn’t explain to the young how they were supposed to do such things. They only did it themselves, and let the young see and observe. There wasn’t even certain place for teaching. The whole earth was their teaching area. After sometime, the children learned how to do things for living. Eventually, technology grew and things people had to learn expended widely and the observing wasn’t enough. Only observing wasn’t the most effective way of teaching. Because of this, the job “teacher” was made and people started to teach wide areas to narrower and professional areas. Nowadays, teachers work at schools and academies which are places just for teaching.
Teachers try to understand the students and care for them. Although they might seem harsh sometimes, they are concerned about their students. This is a real experience my cousin had when she was 1st grade. It gives a lot of meaning of a teacher and their understanding. My cousin chattered with her friends during a math class when she was 1st grade. She got caught by her teacher, and she got a punishment. Her punishment was to sit with her legs crossed and her arms held high at the hallway for the whole period. The punishment really made her body ache. She felt as though the math teacher only hated her. Unfortunately, right at that moment, she suddenly wanted to go to the washroom. However, she was too scared to ask her teacher. She thought the teacher will only be angrier and never allow her to go. The moment she was dreading finally came. A while later, her teacher came out to check on her. The teacher looked surprised at first. My cousin thought for a moment that the teacher might be angry at her for making a her pants wet at such age. I also thought that the teacher will be angry at her when she was telling me the story. However, the teacher went back to class and came out with a bucket of water. Pouring it to my cousin, she yelled not to sleep during punishment. Because her teacher poured the water on her, her mistake was covered and no one noticed. Her teacher had protected her from all the teasing she would get if the other children noticed about her mistake. I felt very touched from this story. It shows that even at the time the teacher is punishing the student, he or she is concerned about the student. I think the teacher in this story was worried, even when she was punishing her, that her student might be teased and hurt. Teacher’s understanding and caring is very deep and concerning.
Teachers are harsh like a whip but still understanding and caring. With their help, people were able to achieve their goals and reach to success since the beginning of human being. Without their help, we won’t be able to find our path to our dreams. From their understanding and caring advices, we could improve and earn beautiful results.
